The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences brings prominent leaders from various fields to campus through the Distinguished Speakers Series. Special supporting events often occur in conjunction with these visits.

Performing and Visual Arts

Becoming an undergraduate peer tutor

Undergraduate peer tutors are NSU students enrolled in an undergraduate program. They tutor in the areas of math, business, and/or science.

In order to be eligible for an undergraduate tutoring position, students must have:

  1. A minimum of 30 credits
  2. An overall GPA of 3.4 or better
  3. A “B+” or better in any course to be tutored
  4. Two faculty references
  5. Two job references (optional)
  6. A resume (optional)

Becoming a graduate peer tutor

Graduate peer tutors are NSU students enrolled in a graduate program. They tutor in the areas of math, business, science, and/or writing.

In order to be eligible for a graduate tutoring position, students must have:

  1. A bachelor of arts degree in English, Journalism, Psychology, or a related field (for writing).
  2. A bachelor of science degree in math or a related field (for math).

Becoming a professional tutor

Professional tutors are individuals not studying at NSU who hold a professional degree relevant to the area of tutoring. They tutor in the areas of math, business, science, and/or writing.

In order to be eligible for a professional tutoring position, applicants must have:

  1. A bachelor of arts degree in English, journalism, or a related field (for writing).
  2. A bachelor of science degree in math or a related field (for math, science, or business).
  3. Teaching and/or tutoring experience with college level students.
