The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences brings prominent leaders from various fields to campus through the Distinguished Speakers Series. Special supporting events often occur in conjunction with these visits.

Nova Southeastern University to Host Mark Nerenhausen

The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences proudly welcomes Mark Nerenhausen as the first guest of the college’s 2006-2007 Distinguished Speakers Series. Since 1998, Mark Nerenhausen has served as the President and CEO of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, which presents more than 600 performances each year for an annual attendance of more than 600,000.

The Broward Center operates a nationally recognized arts education program in partnership with other organizations and government agencies. The center also manages the Parker Playhouse in Ft. Lauderdale and the Miniaci Performing Arts Center on NSU’s main campus. The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences is proud to be a partner on numerous activities with this key South Florida arts and cultural organization.

Mark’s education includes a bachelor of science in Russian studies and a master of arts administration, both from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He is particularly focused on the role played by the arts in community building and economic development, and serves on a number of South Florida community boards, including Ft. Lauderdale’s Downtown Council Steering Committee, ArtServe, the Museum of Art, the Concert Association of Florida, and the Greater Fort Lauderdale Lodging and Hospitality Association.
