Student Newsletter - July 2, 2007
From the Dean,
Faculty and staff in the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences are busy
preparing for the upcoming academic year, with exciting cocurricular programs,
new scholarship opportunities, challenging classes, and thought-provoking
academic events being planned.
The college works hard to provide you with an all-encompassing education that
extends beyond the classroom. These learning opportunities allow you to apply
acquired knowledge to practical, real-life situations. Our Clinic Exploration
Program (CEP) teams students with health care professionals in many of NSU’s
clinics. Our Undergraduate Honors Program offers accelerated interdisciplinary
classes and activities for high-achieving students. In order to take advantage
of the college’s many stimulating programs and courses, I encourage you to meet
with your academic advisor, who can assist in tracking your major’s
requirements, planning your academic career, and registering for classes. In
order to obtain the schedule and course-load that you desire, I recommend
registering for the fall semester as soon as possible.
The college remains committed to maintaining small, personalized classes led
by outstanding professors. We are currently recruiting new full-time faculty
from around the country for the fall 2007 semester. We look for faculty members
who are not only top-notch experts in their respective fields, but are also
passionate about sharing their knowledge with you. Throughout the year, NSU
undergraduates accompany professors to academic seminars and conferences, assist
in research initiatives, and gain hands-on experience in their disciplines. This
interaction between students and faculty is a key attribute of our college.
As dean of the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, I view education as an
individual and personal experience. Therefore, it is my goal to challenge and
engage each one of you. I look forward to welcoming you to NSU for the 2007–2008
academic year.
Sincerely,
Don Rosenblum, Ph.D.
Dean, Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences
