Student Newsletter - March 15, 2008
Dean's Corner
As a student, it is important to understand the long-lasting significance of grades. Good grades lead to further professional or educational opportunities, as well as scholarship options and academic recognition. Yet while good grades have significance, it is much more important to reflect on the content and discovery in each course. Rising to the challenge of learning new material and mastering new insights is always important preparation for lifelong learning. In the month of March and April, national and international Honor Societies will hold induction ceremonies for those students in the college who have been invited to join. This achievement allows students to be recognized on a national level by colleagues in his or her discipline of study. Membership in an honor society not only offers the benefit of networking with academic leaders in your field, but also the opportunity to draw from the financial and scholastic resources of the society. At times, honor society members are invited to travel to academic conferences with their faculty adviser. I congratulate those of you who are being inducted this year. The college offers many incentives to encourage student success. Research with faculty members, internal scholarships, and other opportunities await students who excel in their classes. Your professors, the Office of Academic Services, and your academic advisor can all offer assistance in reaching these goals. Sincerely, Don Rosenblum, Ph.D. Distinguished Speakers Series April 14 Panel Discussion on Student Activism The Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences will host a discussion entitled "Who are you calling apathetic?
