Welcome to the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences at Nova Southeastern University.
As the dean of the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, I’m proud to introduce you to the outstanding academic programs and activities that truly make us the liberal arts college at the heart of a diverse university.
With 18 intensive major programs, a varied roster of more than 30 complementary minor programs, and strong general education programs, the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences has built a vital and evolving foundation for undergraduate education. We connect students with our programs through traditional classroom and laboratory experiences and through innovative educational approaches that allow us to reach students far and wide.
Our programs are supported by an active faculty in the humanities, social and behavioral sciences, mathematics, biological and physical sciences, and computer sciences. More than 90 full-time faculty members bring their knowledge and expertise to our classrooms and laboratories. They mentor students in independent research projects. They guide study-abroad experiences to explore subjects in depth while also exposing students to rich international adventure. They deliver campus lectures to share their passion for education and research. And, they participate in the development of their fields of study through publications and involvement in their disciplines’ global communities.
Partnerships with community organizations connect our students and faculty with the world beyond campus. The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences has developed strong relationships with the Broward Center for the Performing Arts; the Museum of Art/Fort Lauderdale; Ars Flores, NSU’s orchestra in residence; The Promethean Theatre, the university’s theatre in residence; and other institutions. These partnerships provide avenues of cultural and creative exploration. They also create educational and professional opportunities for our students while sending fresh insights out into the community from the next generation of doctors, lawyers, scientists, artists, and leaders.
In the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, we nurture the fresh insights of our student-citizens through their courses of study, and through unique programs that highlight the liberal arts college’s central role of fostering interdisciplinary discovery. The college’s Undergraduate Honors, Dual Admission, Study Abroad, and Leadership Roundtable Scholars Programs offer our students their own unique intellectual, professional, international, and volunteer experiences, respectively, to round out the academic experiences in the classroom.

Nova Southeastern University’s 300-acre main campus continues its steady growth as a landmark of education in South Florida. At the center of campus is the Sherman Library, the largest library building in Florida, with 325,000 square feet of library resources, electronic classrooms, and services that engage our students with the entire world of research. Also at the center of campus is the University Center, which opened in fall 2006 with 366,000 square feet of athletic and performing arts resources.
As NSU’s physical center grows, the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences continues its growth as the campus’s liberal arts heart. I invite you to join us in that growth, participate in the college’s many activities, and explore with us.
Sincerely,
Don Rosenblum, Ph.D
Dean
