Marine Biology
Description
Marine biology explores the nature and ecology of marine life. The NSU master’s of science (M.S.), offered through the Oceanographic Center, equips students with a solid marine science background in preparation for academic careers or employment in research institutions, government agencies, or environmental consulting firms
Requirements
The Dual Admission Program in marine biology is open to both freshmen and transfer students. Candidates should pursue a bachelor's degree in marine biology. They must have a 3.2 high school GPA or a 3.0 transfer GPA, as well as a combined 1050 SAT or 23 ACT score. Two letters of recommendation are also required. Freshmen should request a letter from a high school science teacher and a letter from a guidance counselor. Transfer students may obtain letters from college professors. A preadmission interview is not required.
The Dual Admission Program in marine biology normally requires six years to complete the bachelor’s of science and a nonthesis master’s degree. A master’s degree that includes a research thesis may take longer.
