Dip Your Toe Into Life at NSU
With a campus this beautiful in such an incredible location, it really must be seen to (almost) be believed.
It’s one thing to read about our amazing programs, living-learning community, and state-of-the-art facilities. But it’s an entirely different experience to walk across campus (most likely wearing shorts and flip-flops, no matter the time of year), talk to professors in your programs of interest, and ask current students questions about life at NSU.
What’s So Great About Living on Campus?
Convenience. Friends. Peace of mind.
Living on campus provides easier access to professors, clubs, activities and meals without having to worry about traffic, the cost of gas or returning to campus for nighttime events.
You don’t have to worry about paying utility bills or shopping for groceries. That’s more time you can spend in the RecPlex or at the beach.
Residence halls are also a great place to make lifelong friends. Where else can you bond with people from all over the world who are just as smart and driven as you are?
My friends from home came down to visit last Spring Break and said, ‘You actually go to a resort. This is not what a college campus looks like.’

Live the Suite Life
Discover The Commons, a place where living and learning meet.
Many freshmen and sophomores choose to live in The Commons. This coed, state-of-the-art, living learning community includes more than 500 student beds, various classrooms and meeting spaces, 16 community living rooms, 16 study rooms and plenty of indoor and outdoor common space.
What are NSU’s Dorms like?
The Commons is a suite-style dorm. Suites include 4 or 5 single or double occupancy bedrooms and two bathrooms. Residents have easy access to dynamic living and learning spaces.
The Commons is unique and dynamic for the inclusion of living-learning spaces within a community. The 16 community living rooms have comfortable furnishings that create social spaces for students to conduct study sessions, group meetings or to congregate with friends.
Eat Where You Want
The flexible NSU meal plan applies to more than just dining halls.
All students who live on campus are required to enroll in a meal plan. These plans work on a declining balance (DB) system—just like a debit account.
You can use your funds at any Shark Dining location, which includes dining halls as well as popular restaurants like Subway, Einstein Brothers, Sushi Maki and more.
Vegetarian or vegan? You’ll find plenty of plant-based menu options across campus.
My favorite place on campus is the backyard of The Flight Deck. Its cabanas hold a lot of people so it's the perfect place for a group study session.

Stay Busy On Campus
Clubs. Sports. Events. There’s always something to do at NSU.
Almost any night of the week, you can find something fun to do at NSU. Between the Division of Student Affairs and student-led clubs and organizations, there’s always some kind of event happening on campus.
“Always Something New Going On”
Listen to current students talk about what they do for fun on campus. You’ll see that there’s something for everyone here.
Not in an event mood? There are plenty of places on campus to exercise, relax or soak up some culture. The RecPlex is a great place to knock out some reps. The Medicinal Garden is a quiet space that’s great for reflection. The Art Museum could spark your creativity.
