Understanding every opportunity can help make your NSU experience even more enriching and memorable.
Three Reasons to Join a Club
Community Service and Civic Engagement
Sharks are driven to make a positive impact on the world. Sometimes that means doing ground-breaking research. Other times that means getting out into the community and working toward solutions. NSU’s Office of Student Leadership and Civic Engagement offers plenty of student service organizations to help connect students with the community.
Ambassador Misha B. shares a student’s perspective on getting involved with community service at NSU.
Want to Make a Difference?
Be a positive force for good.
When Sharks work together, we make a big impact. That’s why throughout the year, we combine our efforts during Days of Service. During these days, Sharks serve a different community or social need. Past days have honored victims of 9/11, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Earth Day, and the NSU community.
Why Is Community Service Important?
When a Day of Service sparks a passion to do even more good, students participate in NSU’s Sharks and Service trips. These weekend or weeklong trips address social issues through meaningful volunteer work. Past trips have visited places like Key West, New Orleans, and Jamaica, addressing issues like hurricane relief, immigration, and food insecurity.
