The path to success isn’t achieved only through good grades or professional opportunities. At Nova Southeastern University, Sharks are given the tools to bring their whole selves to campus—mentally and physically—including access to:
- On-campus, seasoned health care professionals
- Mental health tools
- Outlets to stay physically active
While you’re with us, we’ll help you establish healthy habits that you can use long after graduation.
Healthy Body
At NSU, student life is more than academics—your well-being is as important as classroom performance. Sharks are encouraged to manage their physical and mental health, unwind, get fit, and enjoy physical activities with their peers.
Take Charge of Your Health and Well-Being
As an NSU student, you'll have access to the NSU Health Student Medical Center, which provides a wide variety of general health and wellness services, including annual physical exams, vaccinations, illness diagnosis and treatment, mental health counseling, and more.
Get Moving Through Campus Recreation
You’ll get plenty of brain exercise through classes, so it’s important that your body gets attention too. Choose from a range of activities, such as swimming, scuba diving, and intramural sports.
Unwind With Group Exercise
Yoga, spin, Zumba, hip-hop—however you
like to break a sweat, we’ve got you covered.
Healthy Mind
Pursuing a degree can be a stressful time, but know you won’t go it alone. NSU offers several on-campus mental health support resources. At NSU, students don’t just get an education; they prepare for real life.
With Hayley from Student Counseling, I have felt supported to work through my struggles without feeling judged or pressured. She's given me the tools to accept myself and work towards being successful and happy in college.

Center for Student Counseling and Well-Being
The NSU Center for Student Counseling and Well-Being (CSCW) helps Sharks maximize their best selves academically, personally, and professionally. CSCW provides services that help with stress management and coping strategies and provides psychiatric assessment and crisis intervention.
Community CARE Coaches
Your fellow Sharks are excellent mental health resources as well. NSU Community CARE coaches are students who are certified and trained to address topics and issues that impact student well-being. Community CARE coaches encourage and educate their peers to make healthy lifestyle choices through programs, presentations, workshops, group discussions, and campus awareness events.
Having access to events and activities about the importance of mental health has had a monumental impact on how I balance my personal health and work load. The Community Care Coaches are there when you feel like no one else is.

Guided Self-Change Clinic
If you are recovering from a substance abuse problem, the outpatient Guided Self-Change (GSCCC) Healthy Lifestyles Program can help. The program offers services for individuals who want to develop a healthier lifestyle by overcoming sleep difficulties or quit an addictive habit, such as Internet or video game use, smoking, gambling, and more.
During group sessions, I was challenged to self-reflect and share out (which I needed) because I am an introvert. I felt safe and learned that I can be vulnerable without being judged. I left better than I came in!

Group Therapy
Register for group psychoeducation, which helps students learn skills to better manage their lives. Focusing on a variety of topics, these virtual group sessions are held throughout the semester for four weeks at a time, meeting one hour per week.
Healthy Spirit
Sharks come from diverse backgrounds and faiths. At NSU, there is room for all belief systems and lifestyles on campus. Whether you’re rooted in a particular religion or seeking answers, NSU has plenty of organizations to help guide you on your spiritual journey.
Interfaith Opportunities
Our Interfaith spaces are a visible symbol of NSU’s commitment to accommodating the spiritual needs of our students. There are Interfaith Spaces located at the Carl DeSantis Building in Rooms 3105 and 3106.
Faith-Based Student Organizations
Find your place by joining one of the many NSU student organizations that are built on faith.
Having a space on campus where I can practice my religion safely makes me feel heard and respected. Not only that the university recognizes the beauty in its diversity, but it also provides me with an area where I can take a step back from a busy schedule and feel whole by practicing my prayers.
