A Program For Future Family Counselors
With Nova Southeastern University’s Couple and Family Therapy Dual Admission program, you’ll build upon a strong foundation to develop clinical excellence and prepare for a rewarding career helping families. You’ll earn both your bachelor’s and your Master of Science in Couple and Family Therapy in four years and six semesters, so you can streamline earning your advanced degree.
NSU's curriculum is built upon a learning system that helps you develop theory in conjunction with a hands-on practicum. You’ll learn how to work with families in crisis and help individuals develop mechanisms to better understand themselves and the world they live in. Our coursework delves into cultural and sexual diversity and marginalized groups, and you’ll graduate ready to help.
Graduate students have the opportunity to work in a supervised, state-of-the-art, on-site community clinic and then pursue off-site experiences with our community partners.

Program Overview
A Dual Admission program is available to qualified freshman and transfer students,
allowing them to complete a combined bachelor's degree and master’s degree in couple
and family therapy four years and six semesters.
After successfully completing a four-year undergraduate degree at Nova Southeastern
University (see requirements chart below), students are eligible to immediately start
their Master's in Couple and Family Therapy.
You can earn any bachelor’s degree and your Master of Science in Couple and Family Therapy*.
*Majors that are considered a pathway program are not eligible (i.e. Business of Health, Nursing Pathway, Medical Sonography) for a College of Osteopathic Medicine dual admission program.
Eligibility
To be considered for dual admission and fill your reserved seat in graduate or professional
school, there are some requirements you must meet. Undergraduate Admission Requirements are first-time in college students and transfer students applying to earn a bachelor's
degree. Graduate Admission Requirements are the standards students need to maintain, while earning their undergraduate degree,
to remain eligible for the graduate or professional program.
Undergraduate Admission Requirements
Graduate Admission Requirements
Keep your dual admission status while you earn your bachelor’s.
Dual Admission reserves your seat in NSU’s M.S. in Couple and Family Therapy, but you must still complete a graduate application once you finish your bachelor’s degree.
Keep in mind that these are the basic requirements, and final determination of admission into the professional program is at the discretion of the College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Additional Requirements
College credits that were earned through advanced high school programs such as AP,
IB or college academy—or in summer coursework following high school graduation, prior
to attending NSU—may transfer to NSU.
Students who enter NSU with earned college credits through advanced high school programs
may be able to complete their degree and program requirements earlier than scheduled
and request to enter their graduate professional programs earlier as well.
Please contact your admissions representative for more details regarding high school transfer credits.
